Thursday 13th january 2022

Moved to Galleon wharf on Monday, and intended to move on again today, but woke up to a frozen canal.

It's not too thick here, but is pretty bad both south and north where the canal is overshadowed by trees etc. Stoke the fire and sit tight.

Fed the locals with some cornflakes.

Wednesday 5th January

Cold trip to Cosgrove, and busy with boat movement.
Wolverton cut was ridiculously shallow, and to make things worse, some idiot had moored a CRT work boat with two buttys breasted on a bend and at the narrowest pinchpoint they could find. Typically do as I say and not as I do.
Still no offside vegetation management, but lots of shiny new blue signs. South East management? Yep, we need change and rid of the incompetence.
Managed to get a mooring, but only just. The winter works in the area are playing havoc with cruising patterns, but can't be helped.

Thursday 30th December

Moved today, from Fenny to Pear Tree. The stoppages this year are putting a bit of pressure on movement. The need for coal, gas, water and fuel during the stoppage is dictating where we can cruise between January and March. Probably best to keep between Cosgrove and Fenny Stratford.

A bit of a pain, but the work has to be done.

Wednesday 15th December

Moved a couple of miles and moored for the night at Campbell Park. Got up Thursday and moved again. Now moored at Fenny Stratford for a day or two. Stock up with xmas shopping etc. Pick up gas and coal.

Still at Gifford. Being near a waterpoint, taking the opportunity to clear the laundry basket.

Probably move tomorrow if the weather improves.

Monday 6th December

A weekend of storms and iced in again on Sunday.

The ice had cleared by Monday, so managed to move on for water.

Headed for Giffard Park with the Canal water level down by a foot. Enroute, both banks were showing silt, so any chance of mooring or pulling in with a fouled prop would be a no no.

This section has had no dredging whatsoever for 20 years that I know of, could be possibly longer. CRT when questioned on the subject just ignore.

Still, the CEO and his directors seem happy enough to pocket their six figure salaries and perks. Bring back BW and the option of accountability.

Tuesday 30th November

Moved to Bradwell. Not far, but can get the dog clipped before xmas.

Very bad depth on this stretch of canal. Lack of rain keeping the water low, and lack of dredging by Canal and River Trust making things 10 times worse. I really wish the management team for this area would either get their act together or sod off.
