 Thursday 27th January.

Set off early from Cosgrove, heading for Stoke Bruerne. Big mistake.

The water level from Cosgrove to Stoke Bruerne amounts to puddle skipping. Got stuck several times and had to faff about to refloat.

Gave up after taking 4 hours getting to Kingfisher marina, (Baxters boatyard). Depth check of the channel gave 27 inches. This is a fuckin joke.

Canal and River Trust are just a shambles.

 Sunday 16th January.

Cruised to Campbell Park filling with water along the way. Still a bit of ice here and there.

Tuesday 25th January

Cruised back to Cosgrove for delivery and installation of Lifepo4 batteries. Move on again once they are installed.

Really difficult moving in this area, the water levels are lower than I've seen before. Really need some rain, or dredging. Probably get the former at some point, but can't see the latter happening anytime soon. There could be major issues come spring when leisure boaters start to move.

Ice baby Ice

Still pretty grim with being frozen in. Hopefully it thaws a bit today and overnight. Roll on spring.

Thursday 13th january 2022

Moved to Galleon wharf on Monday, and intended to move on again today, but woke up to a frozen canal.

It's not too thick here, but is pretty bad both south and north where the canal is overshadowed by trees etc. Stoke the fire and sit tight.

Fed the locals with some cornflakes.

Wednesday 5th January

Cold trip to Cosgrove, and busy with boat movement.
Wolverton cut was ridiculously shallow, and to make things worse, some idiot had moored a CRT work boat with two buttys breasted on a bend and at the narrowest pinchpoint they could find. Typically do as I say and not as I do.
Still no offside vegetation management, but lots of shiny new blue signs. South East management? Yep, we need change and rid of the incompetence.
Managed to get a mooring, but only just. The winter works in the area are playing havoc with cruising patterns, but can't be helped.

Thursday 30th December

Moved today, from Fenny to Pear Tree. The stoppages this year are putting a bit of pressure on movement. The need for coal, gas, water and fuel during the stoppage is dictating where we can cruise between January and March. Probably best to keep between Cosgrove and Fenny Stratford.

A bit of a pain, but the work has to be done.
